- Reviewed at CCB on 2019-02-12, to decide whether or not to proceed with exploratory design work: Quite robust discussion on many aspects of this. Significantly there seemed to be a very strong scientific case / support for the requirement to be met and for a camera funtionality to support observations of faint objects in general, even if the # of specific cases needing the HRM-135 astrometry requirement was 10% or less. Therefore it was agreed that we should proceed to a more extensive study. Intention is that thestudy must not impact the optical design of the science path so the Optics FDR schedule can be met.
- • Fraser to collate the requirements from the document and any other unstated needs
- • As part of that Fraser should get CAB support from their work on Sec Guiding camera in past
- • Longer term Fraser to collate the slides or links to slides used previously which indicated the Camera in the cold FP is the best option(e.g. metrology from NGSS to cold FP, camera in NGSS, not cold in IFS, more guide arms..
- • Ian to discuss with IAC what support they could provide to a study even if long-term probably can’t support an implementation if it proceeds
- • All sub-systems to update the document by Fraser with any additional impacts/changes e.g. Detector could actually work OK at ~140K
- 2019-08-13: available volume is likely to be impacted by the ongoing Pre-Optics OCDR action close-out. No resources identified to complete the design study [IRB update].
